LIVE MUSIC

Playing live every Friday night at 9.30 pm, The Gypsy Crims are a Melbourne based group performing Infectious Gypsy Flamenco guitar compositions. Infectious Gypsy Flamenco, Arabic and Latin Jazz dance grooves. Orlando is a self taught guitarist and main composer of the group and is inspired by the gypsy Flamenco artists of Spain. Orlando is also an accomplished Oud player and this has heavily influenced the way he plays the flamenco guitar and his composition. Juan Martinez Ortega is the only full blooded Spanish flamenco guitarist in Australia descending from a family of gypsy flamenco artists in Andalucia. Juan currently holds the reigns to the fastest flamenco picado in Australia and has had hits in the Aria Charts alongside Peter Dickson with there album Falsetas 1996. Michael Kontachristos accompanies the two maestro guitarists on the cajon and is one of the world's finest percussionists, he currently teaches at the Victorian College of the Arts. Michael's unique and exciting style of percussion is based on Middle Eastern techniques whilst staying true to the Flamenco art form.

Live flamenco guitar playing every Monday, Tuesday, And Thursday at 7.30 Peter Meerman is a musician with over 30 years' experience in performance and teaching both in Spain and Australia. He has studied with Paco Pena, Serranito, Juan Maya "Marote", Nino Ricardo and others. Peter has recently returned from touring Spain where he furthered his studies and performed with other musicians.
